Maybe, you have been a chinchilla parent for a while now, and you are simply looking to upgrade.

It’s also the cage I currently use for my chinchilla and ranks #1 at the top of my list as the best option you can choose for your chinchilla.

I also intend to cover some of the drawbacks of the Critter Nation Cage as well.

For those that have about 3 minutes to spare, here’s what I intend on covering in this review of the Critter Nation Cage.

I’m also aware that most individuals need quick details and don’t have time to read the entire review.

With that being the case, I wanted to provide you with a quick 2 paragraph overview of the Critter Nations 2 cage.

Here’s that quick snapshot for you.

The Critter Nation chinchilla cage is one of the most superior options you can choose for your chinchilla.

More specifically, the dual-level Critter Nation chinchilla cage provides even more space to promote your chinchilla’s ability to jump and climb around.

The Critter Nation has excellent storage options beneath the age, easily removable trays for quick cleaning, and comes with wheels to allow for easy moving around the home.

The Critter Nation also makes life easy but allowing you to order custom fleece liners (link to Amazon) for the trays inside of the cage.

This makes for a much better option, in my opinion, than using chinchilla bedding.

A chinchilla needs plenty of space and spends more than 23 hours a day in most circumstances inside of their cage.

In my opinion, The Critter Nation cage allows for a comfortable, customizable, and fantastic home for your fur baby.

That was the fastest way to break down the Critter Nation.

If, however, you have those 3 minutes to spare, I plan to break this cage down in much more depth.

The rest of this Critter Nation chinchilla cage review is designed to break down all the specifics

Here is what you need to know.

Overview of the Critter Nation 2 Chinchilla Cage

If you spend much time on my blog, you’re probably aware that I’m a massive supporter of the Critter Nation cages.

You have likely seen pictures of it all over my blog as well.

It’s just a fantastic option, in my opinion, and the cage I’ve been using for roughly 12 months now.

I initially after adopting my chinchilla, started with a wire bottom chinchilla cage and knew I needed to upgrade something more appealing, larger, and something that was easily customizable.

This cage checked all the boxes for me and offered the features that I needed.

Specs and Sizing

The sizing of the Critter Nation cage is what sets it apart.

Large chinchilla cage= Awesome Chinchilla cages.

Plain and simple.

In fact, I have a post that discusses the recommended chinchilla cage sizing that you can read here.

The dual-level Critter Nation comes with the following dimensions.

36 inches Length by 25 Inches Wide and 63 Inches Tall.

This makes for a great chinchilla cage that allows for plenty of jumping, climbing, and custom chinchilla cage accessories.

I also love that if you are on a tighter budget, you can simply elect to purchase the one level Critter Nation.

When you have the funds to expand your chin’s cage, simply by the add on that simply sits right on the top of the single level cage.

Here’s a link to the single level Critter Nation (Link to Amazon)

The Critter Nation also does a great job with having wider shelves than you typically see in other chinchilla cages and the pans inside of the cage are 100% leak proof.

Why Multi-Level Chinchilla Cages Are a Necessity

You can certainly get by with a smaller cage.

However, if you have the funds to purchase a taller cage, I highly recommend it.

Think about your chinchilla in this scenario.

Minus some playtime for a few minutes a day, your chinchilla is housed in this cage for the next 15-20 years.

They come out for 30-60 minutes a day.

The nicer of an environment and chinchilla cage you can purchase, the happier and healthier your chinchilla is ultimately going to be.

Not to mention, it allows for a lot of options.

In my chinchilla cage, I have the hut hideout on the first level along with the hay feeders, food bowl, and water bottles.

On the next level, I have another plastic castle enclosure she enjoys hiding in.

One level from this is where I have other chew sticks built onto the cage and a potty-training litter pan.

On the highest level of the chinchilla cage is where I have the chinchilla hammock installed.

It makes for a great interactive home and will undoubtedly be appreciated by your chinchilla.

That’s a guarantee.

Ease of Assembly

It doesn’t get any easier to assemble a cage than the Critter Nation chinchilla cage.

I can assure you of that.

From the minute it arrived on my porch (I ordered on Amazon) it took me maybe 30 minutes total to throw together.

You need to connect the two bases and place the sidewalls on which are just pop into place.

It’s easy and looks great once assembled.

Not to mention the fact that no tools are required.

The Secret Benefit of Custom Fleece Liners

I wouldn’t be doing this cage justice if I didn’t touch on the fleece liners these cages support one more time.

I’ve been using them for about 1 year, and they make life super easy and make your chinchilla comfortable.

You are replacing the bedding in the cage when switching to fleece liners.

No more bedding to clean up.

The liners are made specifically for this Critter Nation chinchilla cage and slide right over the trays that come with the cage.

You simply remove them 1-2 times per week, throw them in the washing machine, and you are good to go.

Not to mention they offer several designs and colors to choose from and they are 100% safe for your chinchilla.
